Departmental strike in Puno with hunger strike
Departmental strike and hunger strike led by Mayor Paca Pantigoso
A departmental strike took place in Puno. Mayor Paca Pantigoso and a group of popular leaders led a hunger strike that lasted several days. The government was forced to send a negotiating commission. The main demands included the officialization of Puno as a pilot region, restructuring with peasant participation, the rejection of militarization, as well as salary claims and historical demands such as the construction of the San Gaban hydroelectric plant and the asphalting of the Puno-Moquegua highway.
