Peace Commission with new members
The government of Alan García Pérez reconstituted the Peace Commission with new members on February 13, 1986, after the original members resigned in January due to difficulties in their work.
The Peace Commission was reconstituted with new members after the original members resigned in January 1986. The original Peace Council had been created in October 1985 by the government of Alan García Pérez and included Monsignor Augusto Beuzeville Ferro (president), Fernando Cabieses Molina, César Rodríguez Rabanal, Alberto Giesecke Matto and Diego García Sayán Larrabure. The original commissioners resigned due to the problems they encountered in carrying out the work entrusted to them, although they pointed out that they had accepted the task because they were convinced that the creation of a space for action and reflection constituted a significant advance in the achievement of peace and the full exercise of human rights.
