Promulgation of decrees to initiate restructuring of agricultural companies in Puno
Alan Garcia's government issued Supreme Decrees 005 and 006, which initiated the restructuring of associative agrarian companies in Puno. A commission would determine within 120 days the amount of land that should revert to the state for subsequent adjudication to the peasant communities. This measure sought to address the land problem in the context of the 'Andean trapezoid' plan and to prevent the advance of subversion.
