Centromín Peru workers strike

Centromín Perú workers' strike carried out between February and March 1986, which, although it did not achieve economic results, represented a political triumph by displacing the APRA leaders from the main union bases. During this conflict, the PCP-SL carried out its first assassinations of mining leaders.

In February 1986, a strike of Centromín Perú workers was called and lasted until March of that year. This strike took place in a context of union division, when the APRA mining leaders had formed the FETIMMAP in August 1985 to compete with the FNTMMSP. The strike represented a test of strength between the two unions. Although in terms of economic demands it did not produce any results, it constituted an important political triumph since the APRA were displaced from Centromín's main bases. In this context, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso carried out its first assassinations among mining leaders.
