After the 1985 Accomarca massacre, abuses against women continued in 1986. The military who settled in Accomarca committed multiple sexual abuses against the women in the area, mainly against single women. The situation was aggravated by the fact that the majority of the people in Accomarca were women, since the rest of the people were dispersed in the countryside. As a result of these systematic abuses, several women became pregnant and approximately ten children were born as a result of the rapes committed by the military.
