MRTA presence in Aucayacu
The MRTA maintained a strong presence in Aucayacu between 1986 and 1989, operating in the urban area and carrying out attacks, although its influence was minor compared to that of the PCP-SL. The organization was totally eliminated from the area in 1992.
The MRTA had a strong presence in Aucayacu between 1986 and 1989. In the mid-1980s, small MRTA groups operated and even carried out attacks in the urban area of Tocache, but their weight was minimal compared to that of the PCP-SL. MRTA's presence in Aucayacu was significant during this period, although it was eventually totally eliminated in 1992. The organization maintained operations in this area of the Upper Huallaga as part of its expansion strategy in the department of San Martin.
