Confrontations in the ex-hacienda Cochabamba

Armed confrontations occurred in 1986 in the former Cochabamba farm, part of the SAIS Tahuantinsuyo in Huamachuco, in the context of the violence of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the associative companies in the region.

In 1986, armed confrontations took place in the former Cochabamba farm, which was part of the SAIS Tahuantinsuyo in the province of Sánchez Carrión (Huamachuco). This event is framed in the context of the violence generated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the region, where the Agricultural Societies of Social Interest (SAIS) were strategic objectives of the subversive group. The Tahuantinsuyo SAIS had previously been mentioned as the scene of assassinations by the PCP-SL, where more than six people were executed in 1981. The 1986 confrontations were part of the Shining Path's strategy to destroy the associative enterprises created by the Agrarian Reform.
