Human settlement formed by 200 families from Barrios Altos and Callao who took land in 1984. The State approved the land acquisition through ENACE in 1986.
AH José Carlos Mariátegui arose as a result of a land seizure carried out on October 14, 1984, by a group of 200 families from the shantytowns of Barrios Altos and Callao. The families, faced with rising rents, organized themselves and decided to have their own land in this area. They applied for the land allocation and the State, through ENACE, approved and began to allocate the land and place the settlers in 1986. This settlement was formed in the context of high migration and population growth experienced by San Juan de Lurigancho during the years of political violence.
