PCP-SL presence in Ninacaca and Vicco
The presence of the PCP-SL in Ninacaca and Vicco has been registered since 1986, being an area of late arrival of the subversion. In 1988, cooperative leaders were assassinated and the communal cooperatives became collection points for food and resources for the subversives.
The presence of PCP-SL militants in the districts of Ninacaca and Vicco, province of Pasco, has been registered since 1986, arriving later than in other areas of the department. Two years later, in 1988, the leaders of the Ninacaca Communal Cooperative were assassinated, while some animals were slaughtered to supply the PCP-SL militants and others were distributed among the villagers. The situation was similar in the district of Vicco, where around 1990 the communal cooperatives became the preferred points for the subversives to stockpile food and appropriate money. These districts, along with Paucartambo and Huachón in Pasco, and Carhuamayo and Ulcumayo in Junín, were part of the same PCP-SL area of operations.
