Attack on Caudalosa Grande mine

The PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the Caudalosa Grande mine in November 1985, dynamiting the installations and forcing the superintendents to hand over explosives. This attack was part of the Shining Path's strategy to stock up on explosive material in the mining centers of Huancavelica.

In November 1985, the Caudalosa Grande mine in Castrovirreyna province was attacked by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. The Shining Path dynamited part of the mining facilities and beat and threatened the superintendents to force them to hand over dynamite and explosive guides. This attack was part of a broader PCP-SL strategy of attacking mining centers in Huancavelica to stock up on explosive material. Subsequently, the mining companies responded by calling on the support of the military, but at the same time developed actions against the unions, accusing some leaders of being Shining Path supporters and firing workers without labor benefits.
