Retirement of 37 generals from Police Forces

The Peruvian government ordered the definitive retirement of 37 generals from the Police Forces on August 19, 1985. This measure was part of the reorganization of the police forces approved days earlier by Congress.

On August 19, 1985, the Peruvian government announced the decision to dismiss and retire 37 generals from the Police Forces. This measure took place in the context of the reorganization of the Police Forces which had been approved by Congress on August 15 by means of a law declaring the reorganization of these forces. The massive retirement of these high-ranking police officers occurred during the first month of the government of Alan García Pérez, who had assumed the presidency on July 28, 1985.
