FETIMMAP training

On August 17, 1985, APRA mining leaders formed the FETIMMAP after splitting the FNTMMSP, seeking to consolidate their positions in the mining union after the electoral triumph of the PAP. The new federation was officially recognized on December 23, 1985.

On August 17, 1985, APRA mining leaders split the FNTMMSP (Federación Nacional de Trabajadores Mineros, Metalúrgicos y Siderúrgicos del Perú) and formed the FETIMMAP (Federación de Trabajadores de la Industria Minera, Metalúrgica y Afines del Perú). This split occurred after the PAP candidate won the presidential elections in 1985, and union leaders close to this party considered that the time had come to consolidate their positions in the mining union. The FETIMMAP was officially recognized on December 23 of the same year. The test in which they had to demonstrate their real strength was the strike called by the workers of Centromín Perú in February 1986.
