MRTA Clandestine Press Conference

On August 16, 1985, the MRTA held a clandestine press conference in Lima where it declared that it would not carry out military actions against the APRA as long as it did not attack the people, in the context of the beginning of Alan Garcia's government.

On August 16, 1985, the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA) held a clandestine press conference in Lima. During this conference, the MRTA stated that "it will not carry out military actions against the APRA, as long as the latter does not attack the people". This statement was made in the context of the beginning of Alan Garcia's government and reflected MRTA's tactical position towards the new APRA government. The conference was part of the MRTA's propaganda and political positioning activities in the capital.
