Detention of María Elena and Teodofina Chavarria Jorge
Temporary detention of two minor sisters by hooded soldiers, released on the same day
On August 4, 1985, the sisters María Elena and Teodofina Chavarria Jorge were detained by members of the Peruvian Army in their house located in Chacra de Chaco, near Huanta. The soldiers arrived hooded and took them to the Castropampa base, without mentioning the reason for their detention. They were released the same day, August 4, apparently because they said they had a brother serving in the Army, although the director of the 'Mama Clara' School in Huanta, where they were studying, also intervened.
