Arrest of Gregorio Cunto Guillén, Faustino Cunto Tincopa and Alejandro Cunto Yaranga

Overnight detention of three peasants by hooded soldiers in their homes

On August 3, 1985, Gregorio Cunto Guillén, Faustino Cunto Tincopa and Alejandro Cunto Yaranga were arrested while they were sleeping in their house located in Pampa Chacra. The detention was carried out by approximately 25 uniformed and armed soldiers wearing black jackets and balaclavas. The soldiers tied the detainees' hands behind their backs with a rope and took them to the Castropampa Military Base. According to one of the soldiers, the reason for the detention was that they had not formed a Civil Defense Committee. The soldiers also took household goods, such as radio recorders and cash.
