On July 4, 1985, arbitrary executions took place in the Castropampa barracks, in the department of Ayacucho. The events occurred in the context of human rights violations that included sexual violence. According to testimony gathered by the CVR, before the executions, the commandos first executed the men to prevent them from screaming or rebelling against the sexual violations of the women, so that they could then rape them. This pattern of behavior was verified in multiple military incursions during the internal armed conflict.
