Murder of Luis Alberto Aguilar Cajahuamán

Professor and elected deputy of the APRA, professor at the Daniel Alcides Carrion National University, assassinated by the PCP-SL in May 1985. His death precipitated the declaration of a state of emergency in the province of Pasco.

Luis Alberto Aguilar Cajahuamán was a professor, APRA militant and professor at the Daniel Alcides Carrión National University. He had been elected Deputy in the elections of April 14, 1985. In May 1985 he was assassinated by a detachment of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. His assassination precipitated the decision of the Belaunde government to declare a state of emergency in the province of Pasco on May 10, 1985. The bombings and assassinations had been occurring repeatedly since the last days of 1984 and continued at a steady pace until May 1985.
