Presidential elections held on April 14, 1985 in Peru, in the midst of political violence. In some areas, such as San Juan Baños de Rabí, residents confronted Shining Path groups in order to exercise their right to vote.

On April 14, 1985, presidential elections were held in Peru, in a context of political violence. In the community of San Juan Baños de Rabí, district of Yanahuanca, province of Daniel Alcides Carrión, department of Pasco, one hundred villagers traveled to Yanahuanca to exercise their vote, after putting to flight a group of Shining Pathists who were trying to impede the elections. Elections were held in most of the provinces of Tayacaja, Churcampa and Huancavelica, although they were boycotted or prevented in places where the subversive forces of the PCP-SL still had operational capacity. However, these boycott actions did not have the same magnitude as those carried out in November 1983 on the occasion of the municipal elections.
