CITE strike lifted

After 22 days of an indefinite strike which began in March 1985, the CITE lifted the strike after the government accepted all of its demands and agreed to increase the salaries of state workers.

In March 1985, the Intersectoral Confederation of State Workers (CITE) began an indefinite strike that lasted 22 days. This strike was joined by various sectors including workers of the Corporación Peruana de Aeropuertos y Aviación Comercial S.A., workers of the Ministry of Justice, SUTEP and Social Security, as well as employees of the Municipality of Lima. After 22 days of strike, the Government accepted all the demands of the strikers and agreed to increase wages. This agreement led to the lifting of the CITE strike, putting an end to one of the most significant labor mobilizations in the state sector during that period.
