Dynamite attacks on party premises in Junín
Between March and April 1985, dynamite attacks were carried out against the offices of Acción Popular, Partido Popular Cristiano, PAP, Izquierda Unida and the Provincial Electoral Registry in Junín. These attacks were part of the Shining Path's offensive against the political and municipal space in the region.
In March and April 1985, there were bomb attacks against the party offices of the main political parties in Junín. The attacks were directed against the offices of Acción Popular, Partido Popular Cristiano, PAP (Partido Aprista Peruano) and Izquierda Unida. The premises of the Provincial Electoral Registry were also attacked. These attacks were part of the Shining Path PCP's strategy of attacking the municipal and political parties in the region. The attacks occurred in a context of growing subversive presence in the Mantaro valley, where previously, in July 1984, the mayor of Huancayo, Saúl Muñoz Menacho, had been assassinated.
