The Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path carried out its first assault against a Civil Guard post in San Sebastian, Cuzco province. This attack marked the beginning of the armed actions of the PCP-SL in the Cuzco region, expanding its presence from Ayacucho to other areas of the southern Andean region.
