Raking of the Quicapata Barracks
Between 1985 and 1989, military personnel from the Quicapata barracks conducted dawn raids in Carmen Alto, cordoning off neighborhoods and preventing the free movement of residents.
Between 1985 and 1989, Peruvian Army troops from the Quicapata Barracks conducted early morning raids in the neighborhoods of the Carmen Alto district. During these operations, the military cordoned off the surrounding neighborhoods, preventing residents from entering or leaving the area, even when their homes were located in the cordoned-off area. These raids were part of the counter-subversive operations in the Ayacucho region during the internal armed conflict. Testimonies reported to the CVR document these actions as part of a pattern of military control over the civilian population in areas considered conflictive.
