First incursions of trekking column in Cajatambo

In 1985, the first incursions of a highly mobile Shining Path column were registered in Cajatambo in the high Andean region. These incursions marked the beginning of the violent phase of the PCP-SL in the province, after a period of accumulation of sympathizers that lasted approximately until that year. The column operated in the highest and most remote areas of the provincial capital, in strategic places of communication between several provinces. The first recorded assassination of authorities in all the provinces north of Lima was that of the Deputy Mayor of Gorgor during this period.
