Formation of the Revolutionary Movement for the Defense of the People (MRDP)

In mid-1985, an organization was formed and developed in the city as part of the Revolutionary Movement for the Defense of the People (MRDP). This organization was created by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso as part of its operational structure in Lima. The MRDP was part of the central apparatus of the PCP-SL operating in the capital, together with other structures such as the Organizational Support Department (DAO), the Special Work Group (GTE) and the Partisan Support Group (GAP). The formation of this organization took place in the context of the expansion of Shining Path operations in Metropolitan Lima during the mid-1980s.
