Confrontation in Llanaslla

Armed confrontation in Llanaslla between the Army and the PCP-SL that resulted in the death of approximately 45 Shining Path militants, including local commanders.

In 1985, there was an armed confrontation between a military patrol of the Peruvian Army and a contingent of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in a place known as Llanaslla, very close to the community of Santa Barbara, in the district of Huachocolpa. The confrontation resulted in the death of around 45 members of the PCP-SL. Among the dead were reportedly some local PCP-SL commanders. This confrontation represented a significant blow to the subversive forces in the area.
