First authority assassination in Gorgor, Cajatambo

In 1985, in the context of the Shining Path's expansion into the highland provinces north of Lima, the first assassination of an authority was recorded in Cajatambo. The victim was the deputy mayor of Gorgor. This event took place when the presence of the Shining Path PCP, which had been more subway in search of adherents, began to turn into open action and deployment of a strategy of emptying spaces and constituting support bases through a highly mobile subversive column. Between 1985 and 1986, the armed subversive column executed teachers, peasants and authorities suspected of having contacts with the police in various towns in the area.
