On November 21, 1984, members of the PCP-SL attacked the town of Bayobamba in the province of Huanta, Ayacucho. During the attack, the subversives decapitated Lieutenant Governor Silverio Ramirez and ten other villagers. Among the victims were three children, which shows the brutality of the attack.
