On November 9, 1984, in the district of Acobambilla, Huancavelica province, militants of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso murdered three local authorities. The victims were a teacher, the municipal agent and the district governor, who were executed accused of being "informers". Two days later, on November 11, the Shining Path also assassinated the rondero Marcos de La Cruz Quispe in the same district. These murders were part of the PCP-SL's strategy of eliminating local authorities and those who opposed or collaborated with the forces of law and order.
