On October 8, 1984, a group of the MRTA took over the facilities of Radio Comas and spread a commemorative message for the 17th anniversary of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara's death. This action was part of the first MRTA incursions in the Northern Zone of Metropolitan Lima. The event demonstrated the operational capacity of the MRTA to carry out armed propaganda actions in local media. Previously, in May 1984, the MRTA had used the Comas market's radio system to broadcast subversive proclamations for 20 minutes, while simultaneously assaulting a milk delivery truck that was given away inside the market.
