On October 5, 1984, there was an intervention by Sinchis police forces in the province of Tayacaja, department of Huancavelica. As a result of this operation, 12 people were reported dead, 11 disappeared and 8 wounded. This event occurred in the context of counter-subversive operations in the area during the first years of the internal armed conflict. The Sinchis' intervention resulted in a significant number of civilian casualties in the province.
