Beginning of subversive work of MRTA in the Mantaro valley

In October 1984, the MRTA announced the beginning of its subversive work in the Mantaro Valley with agitation and armed propaganda actions in the cities of Jauja, Concepción and Huancayo, thus joining the presence of the Shining Path PCP in the region.

The MRTA (Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement) announced the beginning of its subversive work in October 1984 in the Mantaro valley. Its first actions consisted of agitation and armed propaganda activities carried out in the cities of Jauja, Concepción and Huancayo. This was the first public appearance of the MRTA in the central region of the country, adding to the already existing presence of the Shining Path PCP in the area. The beginning of MRTA operations in the Mantaro valley marked the opening of a new subversive front in a strategic region of the country.
