Formation of the National Executive Committee of Peasant Rounds and Self-Defense Committees in Peru

In October 2001, the National Executive Committee of Peasant Rounds and Self-Defense Committees was formed in Satipo, Peru, to address the demands of these groups to the government. The formation was driven by a sense of abandonment and discrimination felt by the ronderos, who believed the state owed them recognition for their sacrifices. Despite internal conflicts and a lack of state support, these groups sought to organize and gain acknowledgment for their contributions during the conflict.
