Murders in Chinche Tingo
On September 8, 1984, PCP-SL militants murdered four people in Chinche Tingo, including a teacher and local authorities who had promoted vigilance measures against subversion.
On September 8, 1984, at 11:00 a.m., a group of subversives of the PCP-SL took the town of Chinche Tingo. The Shining Path militants murdered four people: Flavio Guzmán, professor Pablo Bustillos Loyola, Florencio Loyola Esteban and Víctor Rojas. The victims had been active promoters of vigilance measures and denunciations against the Shining Path detachment. This attack took place after the villagers of Chinche Tingo met to agree on measures to counteract the subversives in the face of the threat of more murders. The killings caused shock and fear among the local people.
