Slaughter of Putis

Massacre perpetrated by the military at the Putis Base in September 1984, where 124 people were executed. Most of the women were raped before being killed.

On September 15, 1984, soldiers from the Putis Base entered the annex of the same name in Ayacucho. The next day they continued with the massacre in the annex. According to testimonies collected by the CVR, most of the women were raped before being killed. One young woman was saved from this massacre and was not killed because the soldier let her escape. The pattern of behavior of the members of the Army during this military incursion involved the rape of the women prior to the execution.
