On August 25, 1984, in Putica, a ranch in the community of Sacsamarca in the district of Huancavelica, a patrol of military men in civilian clothes arrested the elderly Félix Aparco Pineda. He was accused of harboring PCP-SL subversives. His remains were found months later in a cave near the community. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of the Army's counter-subversive actions in rural areas, based on the strategy that a large part of the population was collaborating with the subversive forces.
