Pucayacu Massacre - Caravan of Death
49 detainees are killed in Pucayacu after being transferred from Huanta by Marines
On August 23, 49 corpses were discovered buried in graves in Pucayacu, a few kilometers north of the city of Huanta. All were citizens previously detained in the Huanta Stadium by the Marine Infantry, and then transferred in a sort of 'caravan of death' to territory belonging to the province of Acobamba, Huancavelica, where they were murdered between August 16 and 19, 1984.
