Arrest of Cirilo Barboza Sánchez and Alejandro Gutiérrez Taype in Luricocha
Two villagers were detained by police during a census in Luricocha and taken to a Marine base.
On August 15, 1984, the residents of Pago de Llansa went to the town of Luricocha to take a census at the request of the police. Cirilo Barboza Sánchez and Alejandro Gutiérrez Taype were separated by members of the Luricocha police and taken inside the police station. When the family members went to ask for them, the police denied that they were there and threatened them with weapons, telling them to 'get out of here, old terruca'. Two days later they were told that they had been transferred to the Marine Infantry barracks in Huanta.
