Jesús Oropeza killed by his Civil Guard captors two weeks after his arrest
Two weeks after his arbitrary arrest on July 27, 1984, Jesús Oropeza was murdered by his Civil Guard captors. Seven members of the police were subsequently prosecuted by the judiciary. This case exemplifies state violence against social leaders during the internal armed conflict.
