Murder in Pachaclla

On August 8, 1984, PCP-SL militants entered the community of Pachaclla in Yauli and murdered the wife of a rondero leader, in retaliation for the organization of peasant patrols in the community.

On August 8, 1984, a large group of subversives of the PCP-SL entered the community of Pachaclla, located in the district of Yauli, province of Huancavelica. The community had organized incipient peasant patrols to defend themselves from Shining Path incursions. During this incursion, PCP-SL militants murdered the wife of a rondero leader. This attack was part of the PCP-SL's strategy to punish communities that organized themselves into self-defense patrols and those they considered to be collaborators of the forces of law and order.
