Arrest and murder in Rosario-Matamburu
Members of the Navy detained numerous villagers from Rosario (Ayna, Huanta) and transferred a group of them to Matamburu, where they were shot and killed on July 8, 1984.
On July 8, 1984, members of the Navy detained a large number of people from the town of Rosario, located in the district of Ayna, province of Huanta. Later, they transferred a group of these detainees to a place called Matamburu. Once in Matamburu, the Marines shot and killed the villagers. This event occurred in the context of the escalation of violence that had begun throughout the country on June 22, 1984.
