Second PCP-SL attack against the Civil Guard post in Aucayacu on July 4, 1984. After the attack, the Alto Huallaga was declared an emergency zone for the first time.
On July 4, 1984, the second attack by the PCP-SL against the Civil Guard post in Aucayacu took place. This attack occurred five months after the first attack on January 31, 1984. A UMOPAR unit arrived several hours after the attack, when the hikers had already withdrawn, and retaliated against anyone they found wandering in the street. After this second attack, Alto Huallaga was declared an emergency zone for the first time.
