Daniel Alcides Carrión Province declared an emergency

The province of Daniel Alcides Carrion in Pasco was declared in a state of emergency in July 1984 and passed to military control. This measure provoked the retreat of the Shining Path PCP without major confrontations.

In July 1984, the province of Daniel Alcides Carrion was declared in a state of emergency and placed under military control. This declaration came after the Shining Path PCP carried out several violent actions in the area, including the assassination of authorities in August 1984 in several towns in the district of Yanahuanca, and the assassination of three villagers in Chinche Tingo in September 1984 who proposed to create surveillance mechanisms. The declaration of emergency provoked, without major confrontations, the withdrawal of the Shining Path PCP from the area.
