Disappearance of residents of Ticllas

In June 1984, the Peruvian Army detained, tortured and disappeared 8 inhabitants of Ticllas, freeing 2 people. This event was part of the most intense period of the internal armed conflict in Ayacucho.

In June 1984, members of the Peruvian Army detained, tortured and disappeared residents of the district of San Jose de Ticllas. The event resulted in 8 people disappeared and 2 released. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of the internal armed conflict in the area, during the period of greatest violence in the provinces of Huamanga, Huanta and La Mar. The districts of Vinchos and San José de Ticllas were considered "red zones" in the early 1980s, although in 1984 the peasants began to form counter-subversive organizations.
