Attacks on anniversary of Lucha Armada

In the framework of the fifth anniversary of the 'Armed Struggle' (May 18, 1980), elements of the PCP-SL multiplied attacks in Lima and in the northern part of the country on May 16, 1984. This date commemorated the beginning of the internal war that the PCP-SL had initiated in 1980. The attacks were part of a strategy of coordinated actions to give resonance to the anniversary of their armed struggle. The MRTA indicated in this context that 'it will not carry out military actions against the APRA, as long as it does not attack the people'.
