PCP-SL attack on Paiccas
On May 9, 1984, members of the PCP-SL attacked the town of Paiccas in the province of La Mar, Ayacucho. This attack was part of the escalation of subversive violence in the region during that period.
On May 9, 1984, members of the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path (PCP-SL) attacked the town of Paiccas, located in the province of La Mar, department of Ayacucho. This attack took place in the context of the intensification of subversive actions by the PCP-SL in the Ayacucho region during 1984. The event occurred a few days after Prime Minister Sandro Mariátegui Chiappe appeared before Congress to present his government plan. The attack on Paiccas was followed days later by another PCP-SL assault on the town of Pilcas in Apurimac, where 35 peasants were killed.
