Incursion of Carhuahuran patrols
In April 1984, rondas from Carhuahurán raided Uchuraccay, taking the church bells and the school's folders and roof. This action took place in the context of raiding campaigns carried out by Civil Defense Committees coordinated with the military.
In April 1984, the Carhuahurán rondas raided the community of Uchuraccay, which by then was practically uninhabited after multiple attacks. During this incursion, the ronderos took the church bells, as well as the school's folders and roof. This raid was part of a broader context in which communities organized in Civil Defense Committees had been coordinating closely with the military since 1984. The rondas of several communities, including Carhuahurán, conducted scouting campaigns throughout the area looking for members of the Shining Path PCP, visiting Uchuraccay on several occasions because it was located in the direction of the Rasuwillca mountain, which had become a Shining Path base.
