Execution of Remigio Paucar Surichaqui

Remigio Paucar Surichaqui was extrajudicially executed by a soldier from the Manta Military Base on March 22, 1984. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of counter-subversive actions in the rural area of Huancavelica, where the Army was searching for subversive 'barracks'. The military strategy was based on the assumption that a large part of the population was collaborating with the subversive forces. As a consequence of this strategy, the Army detained numerous villagers and extrajudicially executed some of them.
