Attack by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso against the Civil Guard post in Villa El Salvador, Lima, on January 22, 1984, as part of the strategy of armed actions against state institutions in the capital.

On January 22, 1984, in Villa El Salvador, Lima, elements of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the Civil Guard post. This attack took place in the context of the intensification of subversive actions in Metropolitan Lima during the first stage of the internal armed conflict (1980-1984). The attack was part of the initial strategy of the PCP-SL to carry out sabotage and attacks against State institutions in the capital. Villa El Salvador, as a popular district of Lima, was considered a strategic objective within the subversive plans to control the so-called "misery belts".
