University demonstration with one fatality
Massive university demonstration against the new Law of Bases of the Peruvian University ended in violent confrontations with the police, leaving one student dead, dozens injured and more than two hundred arrested.
On January 11, 1984, there was a massive university demonstration that ended in violent confrontations between university students and the police. The mobilization was caused by the cuts in student rights brought about by the new Law of Bases of the Peruvian University. As a result of the clashes, one university student died, dozens were injured and more than two hundred were arrested.
