Trekking incursion in Pampacancha with 40 deaths

Following the withdrawal of the marines from Pampacancha, a Shining Path incursion attacked the strategic village that concentrated people from the communities of Huanccacancha, Sacsahuillca, Mutuypata, Culluchaca and Yanasraccay. The attack resulted in 40 dead. The PCP-SL managed to infiltrate, divide and defeat the self-defense groups that had been organized by the Navy without taking into account the regional economy or the rivalries between villages.
